Q: Do you know what alternative dispute Resolution (ADR) is?

From this figure, most of the respondents which consists of 30 respondents (equivalent to 69.8% of the total respondents) answered they do not know what is Alternative Dispute Resolution. Meanwhile, 13 respondents (equivalent to 30.2% of the total respondents) answered yes to the questions. This shows that most people do not know there is another method to solve a dispute other than litigation process.

Q: Which forms of the ADR are you familiar with?

Throughout the online survey, we can see that 24 respondents (equivalent to 38.1% of the total respondents) are not familiar with any forms of ADR. Moreover, negotiation is the form of ADR that has the highest respondents with 18 respondents (28.6%). This is because we mainly heard this term being used in life compared to the other form of ADR and we use it in daily life such as negotiate with store owner to lower the price of vegetables.

Q: Choose one based on your current situation:

- I am  Landlord and currently renting my house to a tenant.

- I am a tenant and currently is living in a rental house.

- None of the above.

This question is to know the current living situation of the respondents. 37.2% of the respondents which consist of 16 respondents are currently a tenant while only 9.3% of the respondents which consist of 4 respondent are a landlord. Most of the respondents are nit in both situation as they either students or live in their own house.

Q: Do you know that the forms of ADR include arbitration, conciliation, mediation, negotiation, and arbitration?

Based on the previous question, it can be expected that most of the respondents will answer no to the question of if they know the Forms of ADR. This lead to 31 respondents (72.1%) do not know the forms of ADR while the other 12respondents (27.9%) know the forms of ADR.

Q: Have you ever rented a house to someone or live in a rental house before?

For this question, we asked the respondents whether they have ever experienced renting or rented a house to someone. 29 out of 43 respondents answered yes to have rented a house to someone or live in a rental house before (equivalent to 67.4%) of the total respondents). The other 14 respondents do not experience both situation.

Q: Have you ever face any conflict with your landlord / tenant?

From this question, it is found that most respondents which consists of 32 respondents (74.4%) do not experience any conflict with their landlord or tenant . Unfortunately 11 respondents (25.6%) have experience conflcit with their landlord and tenant.

Q: Do you know that you can go for ADR in cases of dispute between landlord and tenant, i.e. tenants/landlords who failed to uphold their side of the tenancy or lease agreement?

Most of the respondents which consists of 25 respondents (58.1%) do not know that they have ADR as a mean to solve a dispute with their landlord or tenant. Nevertheless, 18 respondents (41.9%) know that they have ADR to help them to solve a dispute with their landlord or tenant.

Q: Are you interested to participate in a talk to get to know more about mediation relating to dispute between landlord and tenant?

The last question of the survey is whether the respondents have interest to participate in a talk to learn more about mediation relating to dispute between landlord and tenant. 62.8% which consists of 27 respondents shown their interest while 37.2% which consist of 16 respondents do not have interest to participate with the talk.

Are you aware of the advantages of mediation rather than going for litigation?

It can be seen from this question that most of the respondents do not know the advantages to solve dispute through ADR as 73.8% which consists of 31 respondents answered no. Only 26.2% which consist of 12 respondents know that there are advantages of ADR than litigation.
