PROPOSED AGENDA
BACKGROUND

There is no specific law in regard with landlord and tenant in Malaysia. However, there is certain provision specified in National Land Code 1965 that deals with this matter. For example, tenancies and leases. In Malaysia, the agreement made between the landlord and tenant is also treated as apart of contract law. This is due to the fact that the agreement made between the parties will create obligations and rights. Subsequently, if there is any disputes among the landlord and tenant, they will have the rights to commence proceeding to deal with the disputes.

Mediation is an intervention to resolve the dispute between parties. It can be said that mediation is in essence negotiations assisted by a third party who is neutral and without biased whereas in conciliation, the mediator would play the role as the facilitative role. In the UK, mediation is a statutory right, and it is proven to be a success initiative to resolve the dispute between parties involved.

OBJECTIVES
1st
To raise awareness among public regarding the existence of mediation process as one of the ways to resolve dispute in land and tenants disputes.
2nd
To ensure that the public truly understand how mendiation process works on this types of dispute.

3rd
To encourage the public to apply mediation, arbitration, and conciliation in any types of land disputes.

JUSTIFICATION
The justification for this project is to expose the students as well as the public that the disputes among the landlord and tenant can arrive at a solution that benefits both sides and allow each party to better understand the others disputes. The parties do not need to proceed with litigation in order to solve the disputes among them. The project will show how the mediator will provide advice and raise suggestions as to how the dispute could be solved amicably.
