STAGE 1
INVESTIGATION
Our team has conducted a meeting session through the Google Meet platform to discuss on the chosen topic which is ‘Mediation: Landlord and Tenant Disputes’. The meeting was held on 24th October 2021 at 9 pm. During the first meeting, we have discussed on the relevant topic of Alternative Dispute Resolution to be chosen as our main focused for our project. After a thorough and meticulous discussion among us, we decided to choose the topic on the matter of landlord and tenant disputes as our project.
We also has come out with three main objectives for our project which includes:
1.To raise the awareness among public regarding the existence of the mediation process as one of the ways to resolve dispute in land and tenant’s disputes.
2.To ensure that the public truly understand how mediation process works on this type of dispute.
3.To encourage the public to apply mediation, arbitration, and conciliation in any types of land disputes.
PRE-INVESTIGATION STAGE
Why we choose this topic?
Basically, the reason why we choose this topic is that we want the public to know and aware of the existence of the mediation process as the other means of seeking remedies instead of initiating civil proceeding that can be used to resolve the dispute in land and tenant’s matters despite the absence of specific legislation regulating the lands and tenants matter in Malaysia.
ONLINE SURVEY
During our pre-investigation stage, we have conducted a survey to study the extent of knowledge of the public on forms of ADR that is available in Malaysia and their awareness to the mediation process to settle the dispute in land and tenants matter. Other than that, we also has assigned each of the group members with different tasks so that everyone can participate and contributes their ideas and effort for our project.
PROPOSAL
We have prepared a proposal of our topic to our lecturer Madam Ani Munira explaining on the selected topic for our event which is on the Mediation: Landlord and Tenant Dispute. Apart from that, in the proposal we also explained about the tentative of our event and its objectives. After getting her approval, we proceed to discuss further on the preparation for the survey and our target audience for the upcoming talk that will be held in the near future.
